SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WISHING TO ATTEND THE ILAA CONFERENCE IN BANFF, BUT WHO MAY REQUIRE SOME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO DO SO. WE UNDERSTAND THAT IN EARLY RECOVERY, OR EARLY IN ONE’S LEGAL CAREER, FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS MAY HAMPER AN ILAA MEMBER’S ABILITY TO ATTEND OUR CONFERENCES AND WE WOULD LIKE TO HELP ALLEVIATE THIS TO THE DEGREE THAT WE ARE ABLE. APPLICATIONS FOR A SCHOLARSHIP CAN BE MADE ON A CONFIDENTIAL BASIS AND SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
- A limited number of scholarships are available subject to the funds available in our scholarship account. The awarding of a scholarship is discretionary, but all reasonable requests will be considered.
- Scholarships are normally limited to the cost of registration, though in very rare cases, other costs may be included in the scholarship awarded.
- Scholarship requests are dealt with on a “first come, first served.”
- Requests for scholarships should be made no later than September 1, mindful that if the scholarship fund has been distributed prior to that date, no further scholarships will be awarded. Later requests may be considered subject to availability of funding.
- Requests for scholarships should be made by email to ken_skilnick@hotmail.com along with a brief summary of the reasons supporting the request.
- All requests for scholarship will not be shared beyond the committee of trustees deciding scholarship applications and the treasurer.
- When a scholarship has been awarded, the applicant should simply indicate on his or her registration form the word “scholarship” in the comment field.
- If a scholarship is awarded, this will not be indicated on the registrant’s conference badge or other material.
