Exciting Pre- and Post- Conference Program
October 2 – 8, 2025
Are you traveling from afar to Banff? Consider making the most of your trip! The conference committee is thrilled to offer an engaging program for those who want to explore the breathtaking Canadian Rockies and discover the beauty of Banff, Alberta. Andy and Doreen will be checking into the conference hotel on October 1, and they have curated exciting hikes and tours for early arrivals and those who wish to stay for a few days after the conference.
October is the ideal time to visit; you’ll experience cool, refreshing air and clear skies. You’ll uncover stunning walks and venues that await those willing to venture out. Participants should feel comfortable navigating uneven terrain and tackling gentle hills. Be prepared for cooler weather and occasional rain; if it snows, don’t worry—Andy will enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub!
Join us as we explore iconic destinations like Lake Louise and Johnston Canyon, along with other remarkable attractions. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to enhance your conference experience!
⚡️Update
The ILAA Banff Conference’s pre-conference program continues to improve! It is very casual and informal, and anyone wanting to stay longer in Banff can join it each day.
Andy C and his wife will lead the Pre-Conference Program October 2 and 3 before the Conference, and on October 5 (pm) through Oct 8 following the Conference.
Andy and his wife, Doreen, have lived in Calgary for a long time and are familiar with Banff. Andy taught skiing in Banff before his university days. Unfortunately, all his old bar haunts are closed, so a walking tour of historical sites is not possible. However, day hikes and walks will be available.
Anyone interested can join them or spend the day on their own program. We will visit one site each day and share rides to it. Interested parties will meet in the hotel, discuss the details, and head off on a tourist adventure.
Bring good walking shoes and clothing for fall weather.
